Katie Cantrell

My name is Katie Cantrell, and I studied Integrated Marketing Communication at Winthrop University in Rock Hill, SC. I graduated in May, 2017 with an Honors Program degree, and I'm proud to say I maintained a 3.9 GPA throughout my college career.
In the years I studied at Winthrop, I learned so much in the fields of marketing, public relations, and advertising. I demonstrated commitment to quality by spending hours on Photoshop making fliers, manipulating images, and creating graphics for various uses. A significant portion of my major included writing public relations pieces and preparing advertising materials, including press releases, social media plans, campaign briefs, and feature stories, so I have plenty of practice in professional writing. I created marketing and advertising campaigns for a variety of clients, including the City of Rock Hill, Groucho's, Winthrop's Office of Sustainability, and LEGO Friends, and I served as Project Coordinator on a marketing campaign for Lake Wylie Monogramming & More.
Because animals are my passion, I am always looking for ways to work with them. In the past, I have volunteered at Richardson Rescue in York, SC, walking dogs as their kennels were cleaned out. I also worked for Sheba’s Doggy Day Camp in York, not only caring for dogs that came for camp and boarding, but also as a Marketing Assistant. Presently, I volunteer at York County Animal Control, assisting in cat and dog socialization.
I am thrilled at the idea of working around animals for the rest of my life. My internship at the Carolina Wildlife Center has fueled my passion to make a difference in the natural world. Working in marketing and communications in the areas of wildlife conservation and animal rights is my idea of a dream job.
